Sept 15th
- a beautiful sunny calm morning. We dinghy to shore, borrow the bicycles
again and head back into Rock Hall. Our purpose is to stop at West Marine (a
marine store chain in Canada & USA) for plumbing parts to convert the deck
hose to sea water. First, we stop to have lunch at Waterman’s Crab House – it
is a great spot. We notice empty docks right at the restaurant and
inquire…damn, we could have had a slip 10 feet from our table with power and
water…Definitely on the return trip.

We decide to stay an extra night as our dear friend, Peter
Bailey, is passing by this way from visiting his brother in Georgia…once a
prominent Bay Street (Canada’s Wall Street) executive, at age 73 he
is still
the man I knew in the early 1990’s and he still does contract work downtown when
requested…his breakfast use to be a diet coke and Joe Louis (packaged chocolate
covered cake) at his desk. We asked the marina office if we can stop at the
dock to pick him up as a dinghy ride wouldn't work well…later that day, we
dropped the mooring ball line and tied up at the dock…we decided not to go back
to the mooring ball. Well, after a 750 mile drive, Peter arrived at 19:30, we
greeted him at his SUV and walked him down the dock to our boat. We sat in the cockpit, chatted
and caught up on life, ate some spicy shrimp, and a few rum & cokes later
we all decide to play a game of Scrabble. Dwayne 4-0.
Peter and I stayed up for another rum and called it a night
around 02:00AM.
