It's been 4 days waiting for the weather to improve. We were ready to begin moving again as many cruisers were; we were 2nd in
line waiting for the draw bridge to raise to exit Spa Creek. We made a quick pit-stop to fill our water tanks and then start heading down the Severn River to Chesapeake Bay where we turned south for warmer weather.

Our first day out was a short one, just 15 miles south to Herring Bay. Julie and I always sit in the cockpit together keeping a constant eye for dead heads and crab pots.
Herring Bay is not a well protected anchorage but the west wind made it favourable...what a view of the Chesapeake, we were truly anchoring in the Bay.

It was one of those times that makes you smile from the inside...sunset was setting, BBQ's smoking with a few fat steaks, Southern Cross playing by Jimmy Buffett, rum & coke in hand, the boat rolling softly from swells you can hardly see. We thought Spa Creek was peaceful? I guess we blocked out the noise of Annapolis, frequent sirens, boat traffic passing by. Herring Bay was truly peaceful, we could hear the goats and dogs on shore...it was good to be at anchor again!
