Hanging out in Melbourne, Florida

Sporting the Toronto Maple Leafs hoody

What are the chances, we're here in Titusville when NASA is launching a rocket. We got up and out on the dock for the 07:15 blast off. Pete and Rachel had just left. We can see them exiting the channel of the Marina. Many people are standing on their boats; the adjacent park has several cars ready to watch lift off. From watching others, we determine which direction we should be looking. We have NASA's live website on the Ipad to watch the countdown from the end of the dock. The skies are mostly overcast but we can see the towers at Cape Canaveral......3,2,1...no one saw a thing...but 5 seconds later, we heard the rumble of the rockets...that was anti-climatic. Piece of trivia: the area code for the surrounding towns/counties is 321 for that reason.

Today, we reach a milestone by arriving in Melbourne. We plan to spend the next few weeks in Melbourne visiting my cousin Alan and his wife Lily. We'll rent a car to spend xmas with my parents in central Florida. Alan had managed to arrange with a colleague for us to moor BoomDeYada in his backyard on a canal while we are here. Our hosts, Larry and Lori are such a nice couple; they are empty nester's and very much in love. They have been very generous to allow us to stay and have offered several amenities to make our stay a little nicer.

Alan and Lily have been the most gracious and generous hosts...we stayed several nights, they lent us their car and bikes, took me fishing several times and plenty other selfless acts. From kids, Alan and I clicked...means we got in trouble together. One time, while his license was suspended, I had to jump into the drivers seat while the police was pulling us over...in the process, the car veered to the wrong side of the residential street and I was given a sobriety test...the officer let us go!...that was 30+ years ago.

I am truly blessed with great family all over the world...its great that I have several as close as Florida, but Alan and I always have good times together! Below are some pictures of what we have been doing...

Wanda & Henry from back home come for a visit
Alan's backyard bar...dart board, TV and swimming pool (not in the picture).
Sand Fleas: used to bait our hooks for surf fishing...they are crawling in my hand
